In the music video for “Glad He’s Gone” Tove Lo exposits on why her friend’s ex was no good while walking through different scenes.
In the music video for “Glad He’s Gone” Tove Lo is consoling her friend over the phone through song while doing stuff. She starts off eating in a diner. Then walks through the European countryside. Then commits manslaughter and gets arrested. But luckily she still has a phone.
“Did you go down on his birthday? (Yup)/ Did you let him leave a necklace? (Yup)/ Or did you show him all your crazy? (No)/ Blow him up on the weekends (Hmm)/ Did you give in to his ego/ Just to give a little confidence?/ I think you know it’s time to let go…” sings Tove Lo with sass.
The music video has a lot of beautiful scenes like a herd of goats roaming a hillside, but it’s also funny like when Tove Lo gets arrested. So it goes with Tove Lo’s usual style.
On her official social media accounts Tove Lo, aka Ebba Tove Elsa Nilsson from Sweden, stated, “Started with making out in the club and crying in the bathroom to dancing on cars and setting them on fire to feeling up a puppet to stealing boys from a cute rollerskater to THIS EPIC SHIT. I’m so proud of this video, and so grateful to the directors @VaniaHeymann and @GMuggia (you guys are a couple of mad men), and our outstanding teams… who worked so hard and with so much skill to make this come to life. If there’s anything you babes should take away from this video (besides it being EPIC) it’s that I’m clearly a really supportive friend 😂 ENJOOOYYYY!!!”
The song will be part of the Swedish singer-songwriter’s upcoming Sunshine Kitty album slated for release in September 2019. It follows Blue Lips (2017) and Lady Wood (2016). And there was Queen of the Clouds (2014) with “Habits (Stay High)” and the Hippie Sabotage remix, and “Talking Body.”
