Coachella is officially postponed until October, which is Halloween costume time. It can not be long until other music festival follow in its wake.
When bad things happen to artists and people who purchased festival passes it is especially sad. In an unprecedented move for the health of music fans Coachella 2020 has been postponed until next October. And earlier this month SXSW was cancelled in Austin, Texas.
Recent Cancellations
Billboard reports that a lot of concerts in Asia have been cancelled as well. But that’s not all.
Miami Ultra Music Festival has been “called off” in light of coronavirus. There will be no mass raving in Miami Beach, and EDM fans will have to wait until next year, unless they plan a hurricane season festival in Florida with the Floridians. What could possibly go wrong in a COVID-19 hurricane?
There will be no Tomorrowland Winter France 2020 taking place at the Alpe d’Huez Grand Domaine Ski. Afrojack, Dmitri Vegas & Like Mike, Martin Garrix and Oliver Heldens were scheduled.
Madonna has been forced to halt her Madame X world tour, and some of the performances were already rescheduled, so that is a double concert cancellation from Madonna.
Miley Cyrus is not able to meet her previous commitment at the World Tour Bushfire Relief concert in Australia. But the real victims here are the koala bears with singed fur and painful burns.
Meanwhile CBS News reports that Glastonbury Festival is “closely monitoring developments” from Somerset, England. And they just added Lana del Rey to the line up last February!
Future Festivals
Obviously music festival promoters are trendy hipsters. We are predicting that most EDM festivals are going to follow suit and cancel this spring. Depending on how this COVID-19 thing rides out there may or may not be a summer music festival season to look forward to in a few months.
This may be a good time to work on your shuffle dancing and DJing techniques, or record that next album. You could read a book, draw a picture, or attend college online using a computer.
