Grammy award winning production duo Justice are returning later this fall with a film project they call Iris: A Space Opera.
After winning a Grammy Award for their album/live show extravaganza Woman Worldwide, Justice are delving into the world of cinema. Their film Iris: A Space Opera already debuted at SXSW 2019 last March. But is going to premiere in France on August 29, and that is enough time to change it.
As you can see from the preview Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay have not revealed too much about the movie. If you look closely it is them on a stage from really far away, surrounded by floor to ceiling mirrors and blinking lights. But what does that have to do with an epic musical in space? Perhaps it is a rocket ship, space stage and light show, or even a wormhole of some type.
The band has had a lot of success with the theatrical format. Their live show and album Woman Worldwide (2018) was a lot of remixes with live visuals, and that won a Grammy for Best Electronic/Dance album. None of their original albums in the past have done that. Now they are releasing an opera of Justice productions that are presumably set in outer space.
Justice announced the opera would premier in France on August 29, 2019, via social media. They will announce screenings later this fall in other countries after that.
The production duo are slated to headline at Splash House in Palm Springs, California, from June 7-9 and August 9-10, 2019. Get your tickets at StubHub before they sell out entirely.
