Part of the Fall 2018 collection, the Off-White Binder Clip bag comes in many styles, but is shown above in the signature diagonal black and white stripe. The 6 inch x 7.5 inch x 3.5 x bag has an MSRP of $1,240. There is a smaller version that costs $950.

What’s It Made of?
Calfskin
For example the Black Diag Binder Clip Bag ($1,240) is made of 100% Saffiano leather. Saffiano is a nice way of saying Italian baby cow skin. Most fine handbags are manufactured from this material because it is super soft and naturally water resistant to a point. At least it’s a high quality leather.
Hardware
The signature Off-White Binder Clip is one of the laziest pieces of hardware of all time. You can buy them in bulk for a few cents a piece, and they retail at Office Depot for $3.99 per 12-pack. Notice how it says Off-White in raised lettering, which they could have added later. In contrast the Versace Medusa Medallion is a gold-tone metal shaped like a classical Greek sculpture. The Gucci lion hardware is made by Italian goldsmiths out of 100% gold tone metal with embellishments.
Strap
The strap is the same material as the trademark Off-White Yellow Industrial Belt ($225). The belt is 60% polyamide and 40% polyester. It looks like caution tape and is strong enough to lift 5,400 pounds. The same material is used to manufacture industrial equipment in bulk. They probably got a great deal of industrial belts from a factory and are now reselling them at a huge markup.

Street Fashion or Stupid?
Nevertheless the bag is sold out at Off-White’s official website. But they probably only posted a handful in the first place. It is still available via SSENSE and Farfetch for $1,240.
If you think about it, Supreme New York is one of the most popular brands in the world and it’s just a red rectangle with the word Supreme written on it. And Vetements just released a line of reworked Levi’s that cost $1,590 a pair. They also sell shirts they drew on with Sharpie markers for $490 each. Or you can get a 100% cotton shirt for under $10, and used Levi’s for a few dollars.
When you pay a 490% to 1,500% markup for a handbag or a t-shirt you are paying for a logo. That’s like paying someone to advertise their company. But if you are a billionaire that’s just a drop in the ocean. And they do offer a lot of other high quality clothes and accessories with labels so you won’t forget what it is. It’s up to you to decide if the Off-White Binder Clip bag is worth it.
