American singer Lauv reflects on the recent past and whether it was all worth it in “Drugs and the Internet” and the music video.
Lauv, aka Ari Staprans Leff, the mind behind “I Like Me Better” with Phreegy, has worked with Julia Michaels and DJ Snake. Now he has a new single called “Drugs and the Internet.”
“Til the bitter end, but every now and then/ I wonder what it feels like to be more than I am/ I traded all my friends for drugs and the internet/ Ah shit, am I a winner yet?/ Look quick, is he a winner yet?/ Mom’s back home with a drink and a cigarette…” laments Lauv in the sad song.
It just goes to show you that even if you have a hit song at age 18, it doesn’t make your life perfect. This is especially true when you have a depressed artists temperament — like Kurt Cobain, Amy Winehouse or Avicii. A lot of free drugs and followers won’t solve all of your problems.
The song is going to be part of his sophomore album, tentatively titled how i’m feeling. It is supposed to come out this year. His first album I Met You When I Was 18 was self released in 2018.
On his official Instagram account Lauv posted an acoustic version of “Drugs and the Internet” performed live. You can see his little dog running around in the background. The next day he dyed his hair pink. So he has pink hair now as you can see on his Instagram. But how long will that last?
Lauv has announced the How I’m Feeling world tour. First he will head off to Asia and Europe, before returning to North America in the fall. Check out the full schedule at his official website.
