In the new Hardwell music video for “Summer Air” featuring Trevor Guthrie, four children hunt for treasure. But it turns out the real treasure was the magical day they had together as friends.
“Feel the sun on your skin/ Feel the love sinking in/ Oh, babe, what we waitin’ for?/ We got nothing to do/ You got me, I got you…” croons Guthrie over Hardwell’s progressive house beat.
Of course it’s great that the children don’t have to fight a scary monster like in It (1990) or Stranger Things (2016). Instead they spend the summer day playing in a tree house, riding bikes, swimming in the creek, going to the arcade and discovering a cool old roller coaster marked on the map. It’s like childhood used to be in they days before YouTube and video games.
Guthrie is a Canadian singer-songwriter formerly of the group soulDecision. He writes all of his own songs. But sometimes he works with a DJ/producer to compose the music.
Hardwell, aka Robbert van de Corput from Holland, announced he was retiring from touring last September. He is still the third top DJ in the world according to the 2018 DJ Mag poll. “Summer Air” is the result of nearly a year of tour retirement. And he recently debuted “Chase the Sun” with Dannic featuring Kelli-Leigh. Perhaps he has been on a long summer vacation somewhere.
On his official social media accounts, Hardwell announced a special “Summer Air” fan music video is in the works. To enter for a chance to be featured on his YouTube channel, share your favorite sunset video with the hashtag #MySummerAir. The deadline is June 14, 2019.
