“Blast Off” by Gesaffelstein and Pharrell Williams has a retro sound suitable for an arcade game marathon and video montage.
The latest single from Gesaffelstein’s Hyperion is “Blast Off” with Pharrell Williams. Despite the newness it has a vintage feel reminiscent of sci fi movies from the 80’s.
“When I’m looking in your face/ You give me faith/ I feel this faith/ This must be fate/ What do I know..?” sings rapper-producer Williams in his distinctive voice.
The last single from Hyperion was “Lost in the Fire” featuring The Weeknd. Gesaffelstein aka Mike Lévy, produced two tracks on The Weeknd’s 2018 album Lost in the Fire. Other collaborators on the album include lady rockers Haim, who have a similar style inspired by synths of the past.
Williams didn’t post about the single on his official Instagram account. There is this photo of him modeling for GQ France. Gesaffelstein doesn’t even have an Instagram. He’s not as big with American audiences because his name is hard to pronounce in English. But he is a well known producer in music circles, working with the likes of Skrillex and the Weeknd.
Williams just announced he will be performing at Something in the Water in Virginia Beach, Virginia, which takes place April 26 and 27, 2019. Other headliners include Missy Elliot, Janelle Monae, Diplo, Virgil Abloh, Migos, Jaden Smith and the Dave Matthews Band.
