In their new music video for “Happy Now” Zedd and Elley Duhé act out a scene where she poisons her romantic competition. Don’t try this at home!
Record producer, DJ, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Anton Zaslavski, better known as Zedd, teamed up with singer-songwriter Elley Duhé from Mobile, Alabama. In the music video for “Happy Now” she appears to poison her party guests with mercury from a broken thermometer.
“You’re a world away/Somewhere in the crowd/In a foreign place/Are you happy now/There’s nothing left to say/So I shut my mouth…” sings Duhé to an unknown person.
Of course poisoning your guests is literally psychotic, and you should never attempt to take out a romantic rival in this way. In the part they don’t show she gets arrested for murder because it’s going to be completely obvious what happened afterwards! But it’s just a scene.
According to Zedd in a radio interview, “I think why I really gravitated towards her was that she had a genuine and honest approach to the song and she felt vulnerable and real.”
Duhé stated, “To me, ‘Happy Now’ is more than just a song. It’s a significant moment in my life, the golden opportunity to work with one of the greatest DJ’s/producer of our time.” It’s an honor for her to work with Zedd, “Being able to come together with complete strangers to do something beautiful, sing something meaningful, to share something special is what ‘Happy Now’ is all about.”
On Instagram Duhé posted a bikini picture of herself in a screenshot from the music video.
