In the music video for “Crazy, Classic, Life” in which Janelle Monáe parties with friends in the future and drives a hover Mustang convertible.
Janelle Monáe dropped the fourth single off Dirty Computer, which is “Crazy, Classic, Life” and there is a music video to go with it. Like many of her music videos there is a futurism theme, cool outfits and partying with friends in fun venues. Check out the nifty hover Mustang convertible.
“We don’t need another ruler/ All of my friends are kings / I’m not America’s nightmare/ I’m the American dream/ Just let me live my life/ I want a crazy, classic, life…” sings Monáe in the pre-chorus.
The song starts with a quote by Martin Luther King. Then the video opens with Monáe and friends speeding down the highway. They get pulled over. Luckily it’s the future so a robot scans their retinas instead of shooting them. Then Monáe pulls three more girlfriends out of the trunk and they drive to a party at a mansion while listening to the music of Janelle Monáe.
Monáe sports braids, a designer studded leather jacket and rainbow eye makeup. Her friends have a lot of stacked bracelets and black mesh reminiscent of Madonna in the 80’s.

It’s been a big year for Monáe, pictured above in Miami Beach. Dirty Computer was nominated for a Grammy, and not just any Grammy, but Album of the Year, which is the best Grammy. She launched a movie production company called Wondaland with Donna Langley and Universal. Last month she gave a speech for the Obama Foundation at Obama Summit in Chicago, Illinois.
