We have ten EDM tracks by Rihanna assembled in chronological order here. You can watch the music videos and cover art here too.
Rihanna is more dancehall hip hop pop than EDM but she has made a lot of big room house bangers suitable for nightclub play. Most of them are about dancing all night. Some of her dance music forays have included collaborations with Calvin Harris, David Guetta and Wale — not Diplo though. She said his music sounds like airport reggae. And she would know cause she’s from Barbados.
1. Don’t Stop The Music
The 2007 single “Don’t Stop the Music” contains a sample of Micheal Jackson “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin'” (1983). The track is the fourth single from her third album Good Girl Gone Bad.
2. Whose That Chick? ft David Guetta
In 2010 David Guetta released “Whose That Chick?” featuring vocals by Rihanna. Madonna has writing credits on the song. It peaked at #1 on the dance charts. And it was in a Doritos commercial.
3. We Found Love ft Calvin Harris
Calvin Harris produced “We Found Love” with Rihanna in 2011. Then in 2016 they wrote a second tune called “This Is What You Came For” about an unfortunate romantic period of his life.
4. Birthday Cake (Remix) (Dance Routine)
Rihanna self released a remix of “Birthday Cake” in 2012, and there was an official one featuring Chris Brown. This viral video contains a dance choreographed by Willdabeast Adams and Josh Williams.
5. Pour It Up (RL Grime Remix)
“Pour It Up” dropped in 2013. RL Grime of the We Did It Collective remixed it shortly thereafter and both the YouTube video and SoundCloud went viral. He lives in Los Angeles.
6. Bad ft Wale (Remix)
Wale “Bad” featuring Rihanna is borderline hip hop both but genres use similar production techniques so there is a lot of crossover. The original version had vocals by Tiara Thomas.
7. The Monster ft Eminem (PRFFTT & Svyable X Chris Barnhart Remix)
Eminem “The Monster” featuring Rihanna was in 2013. The pair had also done “Love the Way You Lie” back in 2010. However “The Monster” has a groovy house remix by these guys.
8. Bitch Better Have My Money (GTA Remix)
Rihanna released “Bitch Better Have My Money” in 2015. Travis Scott and Kanye West have writing credits on the track among others. It was remixed by GTA, Grandtheft, Diplo, Flosstradamus and Wax Motif.
9. Work ft. Drake (R3hab Remix)
Dutch house producer R3hab has remixed a lot of Rihanna songs and is a huge fan. One of the most popular renditions is his remix of “Work” featuring Drake. The original is from 2016.
10. Wild Thoughts ft DJ Khaled (Medasin Remix)
One of DJ Khaled’s best songs is “Wild Thoughts” with Rihanna and Bryson Tiller. This Medasin remix is one of Trap City’s most viewed videos with over a million plays. His real name is Jameston Thieves.
We have an honorable mention for “Pon de Replay” (Ed Marquis Remix).
EDM producers really need to step up their game in 2018. We still need dope remixes of the following Rihanna singles to go viral: Umbrella, Disturbia, Rude Boy, S&M, California King Bed, Man Down, Diamonds, Where Have You Been, Stay, Too Good and Sex With Me.
R3hab remixed “Needed Me” and “Kiss It Better” but we could use some alternative versions of those too.
