The music video for “Hymn” by Kesha is here. It is about struggling to belong and she dedicated to to DACA refugee children.
“Hymn” was the fourth single from Kesha’s last album Rainbow (2017) that dropped last August. But since the lyrics are about people who feel like they do not belong, such as those with no religion, they dedicated the music video to Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).
In the music video Kesha rides down a desert highway at sunset in what appears to be a self driving convertible. Then she gets out of the car and does a dance routine with a group of strangers. Then a flying saucer comes along and steals the convertible, but leaves Kesha behind.
On Facebook, Kesha describes how she met Cristina Jiménez, cofounder of United We Dream while attending the Met Gala. She writes, “I was so moved by what she and her team are doing to empower immigrant youth in our country. They are working to protect and empower hundreds of thousands of DREAMers who came to this country as children and grew up, studied, and worked in the USA, and now face deportation with the scheduled end of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Even though DACA is scheduled to end, United We Dream has continued to fight for justice and dignity for immigrants and helps DREAMers apply for protection.”
Kesha is currently on tour with Macklemore, which they call the Adventures of Kesha and Macklemore Tour. It will be coming to dozens of towns across the US. Buy your tickets online.
