Singer songwriter Jhené Aiko wrote “Triggered” (Freestyle) to help deal with complicated feelings after an intense breakup.
In “Triggered” (Freestyle) Jhené Aiko mulls over a relationship while employing the use of the word “motherfucker” to express anger. She wears a holographic windbreaker and stands on a hilltop.
“Go figure/ You were the trigger/ You brought me to an obstructed view/ When you knew the picture was bigger/ Who am I kiddin’?/ Knew from the beginning/ You’d ruin everything, you do it every time/ You are my enemy, you are no friend of mind, muhfucker/ You muhfuckin’ right, I’m bitter…” go the R&B and neo-soul lyrics of Jhené Aiko Efuru Chilombo from Los Angeles, California.
In a post on Twitter the singer noted, “One night I was so deep in my feelings, I was afraid of what I might do. I didn’t want to revert to the same bad habits and have that set me back time and time again.” She continues to describe the emotional catharsis, “I realized that instead of running away from my emotions, I needed to sit with them, express myself and say whatever came to mind. It was healing to say the least. And now I feel a bit more free. #Triggered”
Jhené Aiko started out as a contributor to boy band B2K who were active from 1998 to 2004. She has worked with Big Sean and Lil Wayne. There are rumors “Triggered” is about the first.
On her official Instagram account Jhené Aiko is in the habit of posting the same image more than one time — or more than twice. Many of them are too blurry to actually make out. But that doesn’t seem to deter her 7.1 million followers that include the Chainsmokers, Diplo and Skrillex.
