Janelle Monáe’s latest single “PYNK” is about her own vagina, and she wears funny pants in the video. It was produced by Grimes.
“PYNK” is from Monáe’s upcoming album Dirty Computer – an emotion picture* that is out on April 27, 2018. In the music video she dances around in labia shaped pants with other strong, independent women. There is a lot of hyper feminine imagery of things that are pink as well.
From the opening verse it is clearly a song about her own undercarriage.
Pink like the inside of your, baby/ Pink behind all of the doors, crazy/ Pink like the tongue that goes down, maybe/ Pink like the paradise found/ Pink when you’re blushing inside, baby/ Pink is the truth you can’t hide, maybe/ Pink like the folds of your brain, crazy/ Pink as we all go insane…
Meanwhile Canadian lady producer Grimes, a.k.a. Claire Elise Boucher, posted the cover for the single on Instagram with the caption, “abt a yr ago janelle played me like 20 songs and asked me which one was my fave and i was like ‘def pynk’ which was the right answer {phew} cuz she wanted some harmonies &vibes on it. as per usual feeling blessed to b in the presence of greatness ????????♀️ luv u J (also beautiful tessa). every one check out the new song and video PYNK.” (sic)
Stereogum pointed out that Grimes has new music on the way soon. She recently commented on Instagram, “tbh i just took a month off… a lot of insane shit went down and i’m re orienting my whole life bahaha but i think now that im screwing my head back on. can finish fast and i have a deep well of shit this time, like sooooo many songs so after my album i’ll be able to consistently release more music.”
She also apologized for calling 4AD a “shit label” on her Twitter account, and shared a picture.
i’m sorry negative shit i said ended up in the press today, i didn’t mean to spread bad vibes ugh. to make up for it here’s a drawing im working on of aliens examining sentient black goo pic.twitter.com/hGaQ7SBB2n

Get the look from Janelle Monáe’s “Make Me Feel” video. Grimes was in a Rodarte campaign with Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth at one point.
