R&B singer Ilya collaborated with and sampled Wu Tang Clan for her song “Cash Rules” that features rapping by Method Man.
Los Angeles based singer Iyla released a new single called “Cash Rules” featuring Method Man. In the music video she gets to wear a lot of really expensive designer clothes and jewelry.
“You just do it for the like/ You just do it for the Nike/ Saying that you want that wifey material/ But you psycho, yeah you serial, Dino bites/ Nevermind/ You don’t get it do you..?” laments Ilya.
The song includes a sample from “C.R.E.A.M.” a classic rap song released by Wu Tang Clan in 1993. But did that song has been sampled 273 times in music history since it was released. And Wu Tang member RZA actually sampled two older songs when he produced “C.R.E.A.M.”, “As Long as I’ve Got You” by The Charmels (1967), and “Money (Dollar Bill Y’all)” by Jimmy Spicer (1983). So this is the third level of music sampling and it is even deeper than before like in Inception (2010).
The singer is an independent artist signed to 3T Entertainment / Astra Velum / EMPIRE. The song is from her second EP OTHER WAYS TO VENT that dropped last week. This follows her debut War + Raindrops in 2012. From the years 2011 to 2012 she was a member of the girl group Fine Chynah.
