Hard Day of the Dead’s headliners included Die Antwoord, Knife Party and Justice. But the real show was the audience wearing festival fashions.
This year Hard Day of the Dead did not fall on the first of November. But it’s the day after Halloween, and a festival to commemorate your dead relatives so the occasion calls for a darker style of slutty raver costume. Sugar skulls and skeletons were all over the place. Some music fans dressed up as their favorite artists, kind of like cosplay. There were a lot of angels and devils.
Here are some of the EDM festival fashions we spotted at Hard Day of the Dead 2018 on Instagram. Be sure to like their images and follow their social media accounts.

Angelique N. had the genius idea of pairing skeleton print bike shorts with a triangle bra, plus military boots. She wears black nail polish and her face is makeup free.

Lucy and friend coordinated in burgundy leggings and rave bras, with skull makeup and flower headdresses. She reported her face hurt from smiling so much.

Tamar and friend wore their limited edition Die Antwoord boxers with military boots, so that must be who they came to see. It looks like their friend had her nails done too.

Artist Berlin Burkhart dressed up in a neon checkerboard top with a faux fur jacket and matching fanny pack. She wore daisy hair ties and then did daisy eye makeup.

Breex Marie celebrated Dia de los Muertos in a skeleton bodysuit with fishnets, face jewels and an iridescent belt bag. She sports matching skeleton garters as well.

Sabrine Leah wore a star embellished bralette under a white and black jumpsuit. She tied the outfit together with a Moschino belt bag, chunky sneakers and futuristic orange sunglasses.

Chyna Senpai wore simple black rave booty shorts with fishnets and an off shoulder crop top. But her hair was green and in a high ponytail, which contrasts with the black.

Musician Erika Alvarez donned a black lace teddy and layered necklaces. She did traditional sugar skull makeup and a flower headdress because it was Day of the Dead.

Hard Day of the Dead 2018 came and went like so many EDM festivals in years past. Surely the best way to honor the legacy of dead Central Americans, and EDM DJ’s, is by dressing up in a flattering raver costume. Even though some of us put in more effort than others.
