Dr. Martens and Marc Jacobs made a pair of boots in three different colors. It’s part of Marc Jacobs’ Redux Grunge Collection 1993/2018.
Marc Jacobs brought back his 1993 designs for the new season. At the time he designed a grunge collection for menswear designer Perry Ellis. According to the website, what the world needs now is grunge. It is true that the 90’s were the best decade in the history of mankind. That’s why there are still so many 90’s dance parties today — and 90’s street fashion collections.
The limited edition Dr. Martens x Marc Jacobs Patent Leather Boot ($220/pair) comes in Patent Black, Vanilla Patent or Purple Patent as shown above. They are roughly the same price as regular Dr. Martens, but they say Marc Jacobs on them. But that’s not all.
If you really want to remember the 90’s you need the audaciously named Bootleg Grunge Tee ($115). Also available in a long sleeve for more money, this is the design Nirvana is suing Marc Jacobs for in court. The surviving members, and Courtney Love, think it looks too much like the Nirvana smiley face. But they kind of ripped their design off the original smiley face. It says Marc Jacobs Redux Grunge Collection 1993/2018 on the back.
