Diplo done went country in his song “So Long” featuring the western vocals of Cam, and a music video shot at Stagecoach Festival.
Diplo‘s new track “So Long” featuring Cam uses country music sounds like the acoustic guitar, but since he is making the noises with a keyboard synthesizer and DJing it still counts as EDM. The music video was shot at Stagecoach Festival in Indio, California and he dressed like a cowboy.
“I know you’re fine doin’ life on your own/ But that doesn’t mean you should spend it alone/ Cause, boy, you’ve been flyin’ solo for so long/ But I think it’s time to give your heart, your heart what it wants…” sings Cam Country in an angelic voice that sound like bells ringing.
Cam, aka Cam Country, aka Camaron Marvel Ochs, is a country music singer from California — gasp. She has written music for Sam Smith and Miley Cyrus. Her Untamed (2015) LP and Welcome to Cam Country (2015) EP were in the Billboard Country Music Top 100 charts.
The song is going to be part of Diplo’s upcoming album, tentatively titled Thomas Wesley slated for release later this year.
Diplo, aka Thomas Wesley Pentz, was running around Stagecoach dressed like a space cowboy. This follows his collaboration with Mark Ronson in their side-side project Silk City. Ronson also went country when he produced music for Lady Gaga‘s Joanne (2016), and “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart” featuring Cyrus earlier this year. So is Diplo biting Ronson’s style, or is there a country music trend no one can resist, not even EDM producers and DJ’s? Think about it.
