In the Eighties there was only one kind of Adidas tracksuit in all black, and there was no matching hat. Now we have at least five unique ways to wear all Adidas.
The company that would become Adidas as we know it today was founded during the 1920’s in Germany. Their mission was to provide athletes with the best possible equipment. They did that for a long time. Then in 1986 the company connected with Run DMC after they wrote a song called “My Adidas.” At the time Adidas were the cool shoe for hip hop fans, and Run DMC often wore Adidas. So in a way Adidas is one of the leaders in the street fashion movement, such as Balenciaga or Fiorucci.
Today the old school Adidas tracksuit is available in more combinations than ever before. One might say that the all Adidas outfit, once only available in black, is getting a remix.
The Girly Girl
Rather than pants the Pale Pink Trefoil Tee Dress ($39.95) is a dress that looks like an oversized t-shirt. The Pink Samoa Sneakers ($75) are inspired by the soccer sneakers but in all pink from heel to toe. Match them with Anklet Blush and White Socks ($14.95 for three). Then add a Pink Baseball Hat ($23.95).
The Camo Coordinator
The Women’s NMD R1 Primeknit ($169.99) happens to come in camouflage with three nifty stripes. The Camouflage Leggings are only $35 at PacSun. Pair it with the Big Trefoil Oversized Printed T-shirt ($40). The Women’s Camo Dad Hat ($25.95) goes on top. Hey where did you go?
The Mango Smoothie
Adidas has collaborated with a lot of big brands such as Adidas and Pharrell Williams. The Adidas by Stella Mccartney Yellow Training Shorts (On sale for $49) match the Essentials Graphic Tank (On sale for $42), which is made from 100% organic cotton, and the Running Jacket in Orange (On sale for $119). This goes well with the Adidas x Pharrell Williams Tennis Hu Primary Sneaker in Gold ($110).
The Adidas Blues
The Adidas by Stella Mccartney Yoga Comfort Tank Top (On sale for $52) has a sexy front cutout and is made from clingy material. Match it with the Climacool Train Mesh-Trimmed Stretch Shorts (On sale for $42) for group exercise class. The Adidas Originals Embossed Jersey Hooded Top ($85) informs everyone you are on team Adidas. Adilette Cloudfoam Plus Stripes Slides ($35) have water proof cushions.
The Black and Gold
Adidas Swift Running Shoes ($85) perfectly match the Women’s Originals Oversized Sweater Tee in Black (On sale for $46). The Golden Windbreaker is on sale for $98. And the ADIDAS Originals Trefoil Beanie ($19.99) also comes in black and gold. It is a nice break from the dad hat that keeps your ears warm.
There are so many different types of Adidas clothes, accessories and shoes to mix and match that you could fill your closet with them like Run DMC does. Rather than the same old tracksuit, consider an Adidas shorts set, bikini, sports bra, exercise tights, crop top, muscle tank or anything else they make.
If you like sneakers then check out five pairs of velvet sneakers that will crush it. And the Fool’s Gold winter lookbook was inspired by retro street style like pretty much everything they do.
