Calvin Klein and the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts have a licensing agreement to reproduce the artist’s works on clothes.
Andy Warhol was the coolest pop artist of the 70’s for some reason. The Calvin Klein x Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts collaboration consists of clothes and accessories for women and men with Warhols artwork on them. This includes underwear sets, handbags, sneakers and more.
So far Calvin Klein has not chosen to use the soup can or the Marylin Monroe print. But they did make bra and panties sets, like the Andy Warhol: Exposures Racerback Bralette (On sale for $31.50), and Andy Warhol: Exposures Bikini (On sale for $27). The band says Andy Warhol and Calvin Klein on it. Choose from a man’s back or a woman’s back graphic.
Some of the designs are a little scary, such as the electric chair graphic, or the automobile wreck that killed five people graphic. Others such as Calvin Klein 205W39NYC x Andy Warhol Foundation Skull Tote are marked down to $948 from an original MSRP of $3,160.
The most artistic women’s denim jacket of the collaboration would be the Calvin Klein 205W39NYC x Andy Warhol Foundation Floral Colour-Block Denim Jacket (On sale for $495). This is a cotton denim jacket with a floral Andy Warhol print in white, blue and yellow.
The Calvin Klein Jeans Andy Warhol Print Sweatshirt (On sale for $62) actually costs less than the oversized tees. Warhol’s blank expression will remind everyone about his art while the cotton-blend crewneck keeps you warm and fashionable on the city streets.
The Calvin Klein 205W39NYC x Andy Warhol Foundation Dennis Hopper T-Shirt (On sale for ($161) bears a portrait of the Easy Rider (1969) actor on the breast. He was also in Rebel Without a Cause (1955) with James Dean. Why screen print it yourself when Warhol already did?
WWD reports that Calvin Klein and the Andy Warhol Foundation have a four year contract agreement signed. That leaves plenty of time for more street fashion designs.
