René Caovilla Snake Sandals Proclaimed It-Shoe of Summer

René Caovilla’s snake shoes have been spotted on influential celebrities, and in the virtual pages of prominent fashion magazines.

These heeled sandals were handmade in Italy by a 100 year old fashion house. They have been spotted by Elle Magazine on Bella Hadid, Lais Ribiero, Rihanna and Joan Smalls, above. As you can see Rihanna wore them with her famous braless yellow outfit on the red carpet at some point.

The serpentine design was inspired by coiled Roman serpent bracelets from the first century BC. It was conceived by Caovilla in 1969, and was in an exhibit at MoMA museum in New York in 1975.

Rene Caovilla Cleo Sandals are available from their online boutique. They are also sold by Neiman Marcus, Farfetch, Saks Fifth Avenue and more.
