Mike Stroud and Agustin White of White Flight and the Anniversary, announced a new project called KUNZITE via Consequence of Sound. They issued a brand new music video for the lead single “Vapors” and revealed that a new album called BIRDS DON’T FLY is due this March 2, 2018.
A kunzite is a semi-precious gemstone ranging from delicate pink to a rich pink-violet hue.
The music video for “Vapors” is very amusing for some reason. It depicts a group of people at an audition of some sort. Then the protagonist has a strange trip during his audition where he is dancing in a forest with one of the women from the waiting room.
The band explained their influences to Consequence of Sound in detail. They call KUNZITE, “a multi-dimensional sound system broadcasting from inner Earth, while simultaneously emanating from the heart of the Milky Way Galaxy.” They continue, “It requires at least two human interfaces to disseminate the sounds, those being Stroud and White.”
Apparently “Vapor” was inspired by at least three people. Those people are Paul Stamets, an American mycologist who they refer to as a fungal wizard; Win Holfe a Dutch mountaineer and athlete; as well as the Vape God, who went viral for posting videos of his amazing vaping tricks.
So it seems like KUNZITE might have been micro dosing psilocybin and watching people blow smoke rings on YouTube for the past year. For the album artwork they are using 3D forms or sacred geometry. They have posted numerous GIF’s of fractals on their new Instagram, and declared this the year of micro.
BIRDS DON’T FLY is being released on Sol System Records. It was produced entirely by KENZITE on the road in locales such as Hawaii, India, and Iceland.
