The legacy of Aaliyah lives on, this time in the new MAC Cosmetics x Aaliyah collection of beauty products. They collaborated on the collection, not with the deceased pop star, but with i-D Magazine. The line includes eyeshadow palette, a compact, lipglass, lipstick and lip pencil.
According to an Instagram post made by MAC Cosmetics, the beauty products were inspired by Aayliyah’s own makeup bag. The whole collection is dropping on June 20 and 21, 2018.
It doesn’t say who the proceeds go to. But hopefully it will be Aaliyah’s estate, since her name and portrait is all over the packaging. The singer died tragically in a plane crash at age 21.
According to i-D, who was acquired by Vice Media in 2012, “Aaliyah transcends time. Her influence is everlasting – revered by her peers, and built upon by today’s fans and fresh faces.” To commemorate the occasion Vice produced this short documentary that pays tribute to the artist.
The MAC Cosmetics x Aaliyah collection debuts on June 20 and 21, 2018, at the official website.
