Janelle Monáe & Zoë Kravitz Channel Prince for ‘Screwed’ Video

Janelle Monáe and Zoë Kravitz both have foreign letters in their name, so they collaborated on a single called “Screwed.”

The latest single off Janelle Monáe‘s Grammy nominated album Dirty Computer is “Screwed” with Zoë Kravitz. And there is a futuristic yet funky music video to go with it.

I hear the sirens calling/ And the bombs are falling in the streets/ We’re all screwed/ And ah, ah, ah, it’s not perfect, baby/ But I go sex crazy/ But I feel so screwed/ Sex, body/ We’re gonna crash your party…You fucked the world up now, we’ll fuck it all back down…” begins Monáe in the opening lines of the song.

The video follows Monáe, Kravitz and friends the morning after a party in what looks like an abandoned building. They wake up in a cuddle puddle on the roof surrounded by empty liquor bottles only to discover they are being spied on by a futuristic drone. It could be the paparazzi because they both live in New York where they are kind of a big deal.

Monáe and Kravitz didn’t post much about the “Screwed” music video on Instagram. They were too busy having fun at the 2019 Golden Globe Awards. Monáe wore Chanel and Kravitz wore Christian Louboutin. Kravitz, aka Lenny Kravitz’s daughter, is a cast member on the HBO series Big Little Lies with Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman. She did not win a Golden Globe , but she was there to support her co-actors Kidman, Laura Dern and Alexander Skarsgård who all took home awards. The premiere date for Season 2 has not been announced yet.

Monáe will be headlining at Coachella 2019 on Friday, April 12, along with Childish Gambino, the 1975, Diplo, Rüfüs Du Sol and Korean sensations Black Pink.
