In her new commercial for Apple, Grimes talks about her process, and shows us how she uses her MacBook Pro to produce music.
Grimes recently contributed to a YouTube series called “Behind the Mac” about how different public figures use their new MacBook Pros. Grimes, aka Claire Elise Boucher, uses hers as a portable music and video production studio. She sits on the floor next to a chair the whole time.
“It’s super important for me to work on the floor a lot,” says Grimes. “Not having a studio. Not having a professional setup. Being able to kind of like move my thing around,” she continues. “You can do way weirder things if you’re alone in a room not worried about people judging you.”
Boucher is originally from Vancouver, Canada. The producer and singer-songwriter had four albums under her belt before she went to the Met Gala with Elon Musk. She recently produced Janelle Monae’s hit song “Pink” that was obviously about her vagina.
