How to Be More Future (in Style and Everyday Life)

In order to be more future one must embrace change and wear outfits inspired by future fashion.

The future is unknown and is therefore scary because it represents change. But with intergalactic space travel, flying cars and machines that can make any beverage, there is a lot to look forward to as well. The cutting edge technology of the future is perfect for the EDM lifestyle.

Future fashion is only one part of futurism, or concern with events and trends of the future. A futurist is someone that is an adherent of futurism in all ways, such as home decor, technology, sustainable living, space exploration, beauty, art and music. Then you are creating your own future.

Some people are going to try to tell you that you are “too future.” Like those promoters from Mansion Miami told DJ Shadow in the middle of his DJ set that one time in 2013. But don’t listen to them. It’s not possible to be too future. Armin Van Buuren already addressed that on his 2 Future 4 U EP as early as 1998. The best minds of every generation are ahead of their time.

Here are some of the best ways to be more future, as selected by Slutty Raver Costumes. Click on the links to learn more about each product, and to shop for it in the online store.

1. Buy a futuristic sweater.

You will be looking good in the post apocalyptic future in your Helmut Lang Distressed Wool & Cashmere Sweater ($425). Keep in mind that inflation rose dramatically during the Trump economy after the bomb hit, so $425 isn’t really that much in future money.

2. Use iridescent makeup and glitter.

Glitter is the makeup of the future according to several clubbers we consulted. The Fenty Beauty Galaxy Eyeshadow Palette ($59) is by Rihanna, who played a steampunk alien in the 2017 movie version of Valerian, so she would know about the future of space travel.

3. Decorate with sci fi prints.

In the future there will probably be a lot more influences from alien cultures. For example the Space Babe Art Print by Sophie Jewel ($19.95) is for sale at Redbubble.

4. Garden vertically.

In the future gardens will be sustainable, organic, hydroponic and vertical. Get a head start with the GroVert Living Wall Kit in Black (On sale for $95).

5. Read books about the future.

In “New York 2140” by Kim Stanley Robinson, she proposes that NYC will be flooded. The streets will be canals, and there will be drama in one particular apartment complex. There are a lot of other interesting science fiction books out there too.

6. Talk to your computer.

If you can tell your computer to do things then it must be the future, even if they are still working out the kinks. Set up a smart home using the Amazon family of Alexa and Echo devices that control your smart home, play music and get information using your voice.

7. Wear feminist sneakers.

The future is female according to the Nike SF Air Force 1 Force Is Female ($180). The rose colored military sneakers are inspired by Nike Special Field Boots.

8. Listen to electronic dance music.

There are a ton of ways to discover new music in the future, when you can look up any song by talking to your computer. Play some of it on the JBL Pulse 3 Portable Bluetooth Speaker ($169.99), a waterproof light show and speaker you can take on the go.

9. Look at interesting prisms.

Scientists love to look at prisms because of all the beautiful mathematical calculations that are implied. The Swarovski Strass 50mm (2″) Clear Octagon Lily Prism ($23.85) is a sun catcher and rainbow maker with a Strass Engraved Signature of authenticity.

10. Purchase geometric jewelry.

Fashion designers predict that future jewelry will be inspired by the geometry of nature, such as the Amorium Mini Geometric Necklace in 18K Rose Gold Plating ($65).

Some say that savings, education and investments are key for success. But we can promise you that if you buy all of this stuff you will be well on your way to the future. It is inevitable.
