Are Sexy Clothes Empowering?

Women can wear whatever the hell they want and if you disagree you are basically a terrorist.

The argument that women only wear sexy clothes to appear attractive to the opposite sex is short sighted. Yes if women wore revealing clothing in order to attract clientele that would be degrading to all women. But if they want to dress up in order to feel pretty or look good for an important social occasion then it is not your prerogative to tell them they cannot — unless you are their parental guardian.

Slut Shaming Is Anti-feminist

You know who else tells women they have to cover up their bodies? Muslim extremists. And nobody likes those guys.

It works both ways as well. If a woman wanted to walk around wearing a burlap sack with a blanket tied around her head, then she also has that right. Never tell a female what she can or cannot wear. It will not go over well.

EDM Is Run by the Male Patriarchy

A lot of people think that you can just slap the word EDM on some stripper clothes and that is a good outfit for a rave. Those people are men, and women that have dedicated their lives to leeching off men.

Women don’t necessarily wear slutty raver costumes to attract men. They wear them to stand out in the crowd, and compete with all the other beautiful slutty raver costumes. It’s like Van Morrison sings, “And all the girls walk by. Dressed up for each other,” (Wild Night, 1971).

Another good reason to dress up for a DJ set, music festival or rave is that it shows an appreciation of electronic dance music culture. Old people talk a lot of shit about EDM but the truth is that it is the next big genre, and that it has been for a few decades now.

Your Outfit Doesn’t Even Matter

In tropical climates near the equator both women and men walk around wearing loincloths. And no one accuses each other of looking like a slut or a whore. They appreciate their bodies for what they are, finely oiled machines used for living life.

There is a time and a place for everything. If you have a big court date coming up, or maybe a job interview at Google, then definitely don’t wear your rave clothes. But if it is Halloween you don’t want to be the only one not wearing a slutty costume, unless of course you do.

Sexy clothes are empowering under the right circumstances because it gives women control over their own bodies. The female body is one of the only things that women have that men do not have but still want. Even in 2017, feminists have a long way to go before they achieve true equality in the workplace and up in the club.
