Before the trees drop their leaves, it’s time to get a warm and stylish coat or jacket for the fall of 2018.

A jacket or coat is essential when then temperature dips below a certain degree and you have to go outside. It would be wise to wear a coat over club clothes while on the train or on a rainy day. It is up to your discretion whether or not to leave it in the coat check room.

Extra Oversized

Coats are getting bigger, much bigger, during the autumn of 2018. And sunglasses got smaller. Take them from day over office clothes, to night over cocktail dresses.

Balenciaga

The Balenciago New Park in Peacock ($3,100) is a massive women’s parka in blue mat nylon. Oversized parkas and padded coats were all over the fall runways in a winter sports inspired motif.

Acne Studios

The Acne Studios Funnel Neck Coat ($1,000) comes in both tan and black. Note that this is an oversized funnel neck and not the traditional funnel neck that less exquisite coats have.

Semicouture

In the mid range of the spectrum is the Semicouture Oversized Checkered Coat ($310) that comes in different patterns and colors. The neutral plaid is a great pick for autumn.

ASOS

At ASOS the Religion Car Coat with Contrast Piping Detail ($219) is tan with a shawl lapel, stud hardware and viscose lining. They style it with lace up booties and a lace maxi skirt.

Clear/Vinyl

It looks like the clear plastic trend is not over, but it has spread to outerwear. Vinyl, or polyurethane, is a cheap synthetic plastic that protects you from the elements.

Kwaidan Editions

Kwaidan Editions Rubbish Tie-Waist Vinyl Trench Coat (On sale for $972) is a classic trench coat in black vinyl. The knee length Matrix jacket cinches at the waist with a tightening sash.

Fiorucci

Fiorrucci suggests you choose the Berty Transparent Jacket ($325) to go with a signature Firoucci angels crop top or tank. Show some skin while still staying relatively dry during rainstorms.

Topshop

The Topshop Clear Vinyl Trench Coat ($125) comes in transparent green, pink or clear. The outerwear has a retro inspired feel with white piping and popper fastenings.

Current Mood

The Current Mood Nocturnal Fantasy Cropped Jacket ($65) available at Dolls Kill can be worn alone or over an oversized tee. The black vinyl jacket has a pointed collar and an o-ring zipper.

Oversized Denim

The denim jacket is always a crowd favorite that goes with sneakers, boots or pumps. This season they are extra large and snuggly, and should be layered over other oversized clothes.

Maison Margiela

Maison Margiela invites you to buy this Blue Oversized Denim Jacket ($1290). Look how excited this model is to wear hers with a shirt dress, leather tote and chunky platform sneakers.

Alexander Wang

The Alexander Wang Daze Oversized Denim Jacket ($450) comes in an aged, washed indigo. The proportions of the garment are exaggerated to create a modern, androgynous silhouette.

Levi’s

You could get the designer collaboration with Vetements, but the  Baggy Trucker Jacket is only $69.50 at Levi’s. Levi’s invented blue jeans so it doesn’t get more street than that.

Missguided

Missguided has a ton of oversized denim jackets to choose from right now, such as the All Over Back Mermaid Sequin Jacket ($67). They also have oversized denim jackets that are full of holes.

Leather Bomber

The traditional leather jacket has been updated to a leather bomber to be more street fashion. Wear them with track pants and sock boots to be rebellious and streetwise at the same time.

Gucci

This Gucci x Viacom Leather Bomber with Paramount Logo ($6,300) is embellished with sequins, crystals and beads. Somewhere out there a movie producer has just found the perfect jacket.

Yves Saint Laurent

You can do whatever you want to do in a Saint Laurent Bomber Jacket in Black Leather and Shearling ($4,990). Wear it with the Cropped Logo Sweatshirt ($490) with short sleeves.

Givenchy

Behold the Givenchy Paris Knitted Bomber Jacket ($1,460). The leather, black wool and cashmere bomber jacket bears the signature logo embroidered on the back.

Coach

Only at Coach will you find a Leather Varsity Jacket ($995) with a signature Rexy patch on the breast. That and they have limited edition handbags by Disney and Selena Gomez.

This autumn protect yourself from dying of exposure, while still remaining safe from the fashion police and their constant tickets and fines for wear fugly, last season coats. You will surely be able to attract a mate wearing one of these 12 coats and jackets for the fall of 2018.
